Shree Lalshankar Umiyashankar (SLU) Arts and Harivadan and Padmaben (H. & P.) Thakore Commerce College for Women was established in 1920.SLU Arts and H. & P. Thakore Commerce College for Women is UGC recognised college under section 2 (f) and 12 (B) since 17th June, 1972. Initially, the college was associated with SNDT University Mumbai and got affiliated with Gujarat University in 1973. Since, 1981, the college has been offering B.Com. in Gujarati Medium and English medium B.Com. was introduced in 2007. In 2014, PG in commerce “M.Com.” programme was started for girls in Gujarati and English by affiliating with Gujarat University.

From the Academic Year 2025-26, “BS-BBA” programme was started for girls in English medium onlywith the affiliation of Gujarat University.
